Thank you!

Dear Booksellers and Librarians,

It is in large part due to your wonderful efforts that MathStart has enjoyed such a tremendous level of success. In Italy, where I live part of the year, they say, “Grazie mille!” — a thousand thanks! And even that isn’t enough!

I have been working on a few ideas that I hope you will find helpful:

  • PDFs for MathStart shelf signs, counter signs and banners
  • PDFs for Family Math Night signs
  • Downloadable order form templates

Please let me know what you think. And if you have any ideas for more web-based support materials, please share! feedback@stuartjmurphy.com.

grazie milione!

Directions for Making Signs

Click on individual signs, or the Acrobat Reader symbol next to them, or the url codes beneath them to open the corresponding "pdf" files.

For best results, use Kinko’s or another professional copy service to output the art. Their copiers are more accurately calibrated for color. The copy service will want to output directly from the pdf files that are on the website, rather than from a photocopy you bring in. Kinko's accepts both in-store and email orders (be sure to call the store to make sure you've got the correct email address!).

If you order by email, cut'n'paste the url codes from the website into your order note.

For example, the url code for the pdf of the vertical "We Sell MathStart" sign is: www.stuartjmurphy.com/userimages/SIGNS/bookseller_vertical_hc.pdf

Printed out at 100%, the art fits on a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper.

Vertical signs measure 7 1/8" high x 9" wide.

Horizontal signs are 3 5/8" high  x 9 1/4" wide.

If you enlarge 300% or more, ask the staff  at the copy store for some set-up help to make sure the everything will look its best. This is usually an additional cost between $10 to $20, but sometimes it's free. Always ask! Also ask about educator discounts.

You can make counter signs, bookshelf signs, window signs, even banners!

Family Math Night Signs

I love Family Math Nights! Although I only have time attend a handful each year, they are always so much fun. Lately, I have been hearing from teachers who are using my books for Family Math events, even when I can't come. Wow!

The best signs, of course, are always the ones by students. But as long as we were having fun in Photoshop, we came up with these. The "SAMPLE" versions show how — with a little help from the staff at the copy store, or someone who knows her way around Photoshop or Illustrator — you can drop in your own school's information. They can be printed as signs, hand-outs and banners.

Order Forms

These templates were designed to help with teacher sales and special orders.

There are three forms, one for each MathStart level. All three forms are on a single PDF.

Books are listed alphabetically and by skill.

These are not electronic forms (data cannot be input online). However, viewed online, each book title links to it corresponding information page on the MathStart website.

  1. Print and make copies to distribute to teachers.

  2. Send out the PDF link by email. Be sure to let teachers know that to order, they must print out the forms, fill in their information and return by fax or by stopping by the store! Teachers can “browse” books online using the live title links.

  3. Create a link to the PDF on your book store’s website. Even if you don’t have all 63 MathStart titles in stock, you can always have them on your virtual bookshelf.
